Botox Injections

Hi!

I am Rachael and I started Aesthetics by Rachael in 2017.

I have been a qualified nurse for 24 years working in an advanced nurse practitioner role for many of those years.

I am also a non-medical prescriber which allows me to provide a complete aesthetics experience;
prescribing your anti-wrinkle treatment without you needing to have a consultation with another healthcare professional.

I trained with Derma Medical, a worldwide reputable training centre of excellence in aesthetic medicine. They are also the UK’s number one training provider. I am trained in the use of Botulinum Toxin Type A and dermal fillers at an advanced level. I can prescribe and administer Botulinum Toxin Type A for the treatment of facial/neck wrinkles and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). I am also trained to administer fillers to lips, cheeks, marionette lines, naso-labial folds, and hands. I have access to a range of products and will
only use the best product to suit your needs.

I will offer a free consultation which can be held either face-to-face at SB Studio or via a video call.

During this time, I will take a detailed medical history from you and understand what medication you are prescribed (please note that anti-wrinkle treatment is contraindicated with some prescribed medications including tablets and topical
applications). I will also gain a better understanding of the look you are wishing to achieve and what outcome you would like from the treatment. Through this consultation I will be able to tailor a treatment package for you and advise on the price.

A treatment appointment can be secured with a non-refundable £50 deposit. This will be taken off the cost of your treatment.

If you would like to book a consultation then please either contact me directly on 07976 879722 or book online by clicking on the button here.

What’s the difference between anti-wrinkle treatment and dermal fillers?
Both anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers are classed as non-surgical aesthetic procedures. Neither of them has any downtime, making them convenient and more affordable than surgical aesthetic procedures. Often, when I speak to people about aesthetic treatments, they use anti-wrinkle treatment and dermal fillers interchangeably as if they are the same thing. But they are in fact two separate treatment choices. Both provide results but differently and one can complement the other.

So what are the differences?

Anti-wrinkle treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections can be used as a preventative measure to stop wrinkles developing or from

getting worse. They work by blocking the nerve that innovates the muscle, and thus the area is

rested through a reduced ability to move.

Botulinum Toxin is injected into certain muscle groups in the face to produce the desired effect of minimising movement in that group of muscles. This relaxes wrinkles, and by reducing the number of times that muscle moves, any pre-existing wrinkles do not get worse.

Anti-wrinkle treatment takes a few days to start taking effect and the effects last about 10-12 weeks. The treatment itself takes 15-20 minutes to perform and is a series of injections into the desired treatment area. Botulinum Toxin can also be used to treat some medical conditions like Hyperhydrosis (excess sweating) and mouth droop. It can also be used to tighten up areas, like the neck. There are a few different types of Botulinum Toxin that your practitioner can choose from. It is important that you know which one is being used and why. Feel free to ask your
practitioner.

Dermal filler treatments
Dermal fillers are used to fill a space under the skin, reducing the appearance of resting
wrinkles (those wrinkles that are present without moving the face) and plumping up areas
to create the desired effect.

Probably the most popular area for dermal fillers is the lips –using it on the lips can provide

clients with a defined lip edge where their lips are quite thin and can add volume. However,

other popular areas for dermal fillers are the cheeks – to lift a sagging jaw line or provide

mid-face volume, the Marionette Lines (lines from corner of mouth to chin),

the Naso-Labial Lines (lines from nose to mouth) and the backs of hands.

You get an instant result with dermal fillers, however, there might be some swelling in the area immediately after treatment which can make the area look more filled than required. This will settle over a few days, and you will then see the desired effect. Once it is injected the practitioner needs to mould the filler to ensure it is placed in the correct place and does not contain any lumps. This can take a while so treatment can take longer than anti-wrinkle treatment. But there is no downtime after the treatment and if you’re only having one area treated, then it should take no more than one hour.

The length of time you will see the benefit of the dermal filler will also vary depending on the area treated. Most fillers will last 6-9 months, with some keeping their effect for up to 18 months. The filler dissolves over time. Depending on where you are having the dermal filler injected will depend on the product used. There are a lot of product brands to choose from and if you have had it before you might have a preferred product choice.

Be sure to discuss this with your practitioner. Some fillers contain Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic that can help reduce discomfort felt during the
treatment.

Also, fillers come in different thicknesses. This will vary on where the filler is being injected – a thicker filler is used, for example, in the cheeks as these are injected into the deep tissues, but lip filler needs to be thinner as it is injected more superficially. It is important that you
know which one is being used and why. Feel free to ask your practitioner.
